Join astrophysicists Katie Mack and Sara Seager for a conversation about their work, their new books, and the wonders of the universe. Coming from different perspectives, Mack and Seager put their own twists on how they see the cosmos.
For Mack, a theoretical cosmologist, astrophysicist, and self-titled “connoisseur of cosmic catastrophes,” that means offering a witty take on five theories of how the universe could end through cutting-edge science and major concepts in quantum mechanics, cosmology, string theory, and more. Seager, a planetary scientist and a pioneer in the vast world of exoplanets, shares how while searching the universe for another Earth, she found deeper ways to connect to the world she already knew in the wake of her husband’s unexpected death.
In addition to their individual stories, they discuss their roles as astrophysicists and physics professors in male-dominated fields, as well as their new books. Mack’s The End of Everything (Scribner) and Seager’s The Smallest Lights in the Universe (Crown) are available for sale.
