Americans may consider anti-Semitism as an Old World problem, but Pamela Nadell, director of the Jewish Studies program at American University, argues that it is not an issue relegated to Europe and the Holocaust, but is very much an American one.

Anti-Semitism on these shores stretches back to colonial days, when immigrants brought along their prejudices, and has emerged over the centuries through restrictive quotas and more. Today, a worrisome and dangerous rise in anti-Semitism is revealing itself. The bombing of a synagogue in Pittsburgh in 2018 once again shows that pernicious sentiments remain and must be addressed.
