Architectural rendering of the Planet Word museum interior
Planet Word, a museum dedicated to the power and fun of language and how words shape the human experience, is scheduled to open in May, housed in the Franklin School, a National Historic Landmark in downtown Washington.
Planet Word is the world’s first voice-activated museum, with three floors of fun, interactive, technologically advanced galleries for all ages. The immersive learning environment allows visitors to experience and play with words in the context of music, poetry, humor, advertising, oratory, and literature. In addition to the exhibit galleries, the museum features a word-play puzzle room, an auditorium, classrooms, a restaurant, and gift shop, and will host a robust series of live programs including classes, performances and events, and author readings and community conversations.
Hear from the museum’s senior leadership about the process of creating a brand-new museum, the restoration of the building and the construction of the galleries, and what the future holds for the innovative Planet Word. Then, explore the galleries at this exclusive after-hours event.
