(NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC)

You are invited to tour two wonderful exhibits concurrently on view at the National Geographic Museum: Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Dr. Jane Goodall and Women: A Century of Change. Both exhibits are well-timed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution that granted women the right to vote.

Dr. Jane Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, gave the world an extraordinary understanding of humankind’s closest living relatives: chimpanzees. In this exhibit you will explore her early years and experience a 3D exploration of Tanzania’s Gombe Stream National Park where she did her ground-breaking behavioral research on chimps. You will also enter a replica of her research tent, and learn about her current role as a leader in community-centered conservation and youth empowerment.

Becoming Jane pairs well with Women: A Century of Change. The stunning photographs in this exhibit span nine decades and feature a myriad of countries. Each image creates a portrait of some aspect of women’s existence and shows visitors how the depiction of women has evolved since National Geographic’s founding in 1888.
