Student work

Why do the kids get to have all the fun? If you’ve always wanted to be an artist but never had the chance to make it a reality, this three-day workshop is made for you. Recapture the yearning to create as you let loose in a judgment-free setting, produce your own original artwork, explore a variety of media, and have plenty of fun.

Under the guidance of professional artist Susan Vitali, students are introduced to materials, tools, and techniques used in keeping a sketchbook. They work with polymer clay, watercolor painting, printmaking, collage, weaving, and sculpture. The elements and principles of art are discussed as the group tours nearby Smithsonian museum collections.

This unique workshop is for both non-artists and working artists who want to experiment in other media. It’s suitable for all levels, and no experience is necessary.

A supply fee of $80 covers all required materials; students may bring their personal art supplies if desired.

Daily sessions include a lunch break (participants provide their own).

3 sessions; 5.5 hours each
