U.S. Supreme Court

The afternoon panel of this program is available for sale. Tickets are limited! Click here>>

Each fall, the Supreme Court justices begin hearing and deliberating the country’s most important—and often most controversial—legal cases. Get in on the conversation in this daylong seminar in which top experts on the Supreme Court preview some of the cases the court will take up.

10 a.m.–12 p.m. Inside the Court

The day begins at the Supreme Court, in the same room where these cases are argued. Court officers explain the traditions and procedures of the Supreme Court, how a case makes its way there, and how the judges reach a decision.

12 p.m.–1:30 p.m.  Lunch

Participants provide their own lunch, or may purchase it in the Supreme Court’s cafeteria.

1:30–3:30 p.m.   Perspectives on the Court

At the Ripley Center, legal experts debate critical issues raised in some of the cases the court will hear. The panel includes Matthew S. Hellman, co-chair of Jenner & Block Appellate and Supreme Court Practice; Ginger Anders, of counsel and complex litigation and appellate lawyer at Munger, Tolles & Olson, and Joan Biskupic, legal analyst at CNN. Kannon Shanmugam, head of Williams & Connolly’s Supreme Court and appellate litigation practice, serves as moderator.

No ticket sales at the door. Dress is business casual.
