The sights, sounds, and flavors of Morocco provide the atmosphere for a private viewing of Lalla Essaydi: Revisions, a striking collection of works that challenge stereotypes and perceptions about identity among Muslim women—both in art and in life.

The Moroccan-born artist explores themes of gender, place, exoticism, and history, all filtered through her experience as a liberal Arab, African, and Muslim woman living across cultures. Revisons is the first solo exhibition to bring together Essaydi’s photography, paintings, and multimedia work.

Join the exhibit’s curator, Kinsey Katchka, as she discusses the themes and impact of Essaydi’s images, whose brilliant colors and opulent, calligraphically influenced patterns are set off by a gallery backdrop that echoes a stark Moroccan palace.

Savor Moroccan-inspired hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails, experience the art of henna applied by a professional artist, and enjoy Middle Eastern entertainment throughout the evening.

In advance: Resident Members $30; Gen. Admission $50
At the door: Resident Members $35; Gen. Admission $55

One drink ticket for a specialty cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage and light hors d’oeuvres is included with admission. A cash bar offers a specialty cocktail, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the evening. You must be at least 21 years old with valid ID to attend. This is not a seated event.
