By Nick Cruz Velleman

Although Vincent van Gogh was self-taught, his imaginative drawings and instantly recognizable touch reveal a deep understanding of principles like line weight, spacing, and value. In this workshop, analyze van Gogh’s distinctive mark-making and explore how paying attention to these subtle elements can bring greater depth, volume, and light to your drawings. Through hands-on exercises prompted by van Gogh’s drawings and his global influences, discover how to make your marks more imaginative and expressive. A beginning drawing class or equivalent experience is recommended but not required for this workshop.
