This course introduces students to making sculpture using wood as a primary material. Students create sculptures based on their own ideas, with creative and technical guidance from the instructor. Students learn to use a variety of basic tools and are expected to work on their projects both in class and at home between sessions. Other materials and finishes may be incorporated if appropriate to the sculpture’s concept, with instructor approval to ensure safety of all participants.
Note: The course focuses on assembly techniques rather than carving. A small material and tool use fee is included in tuition.
