Materials for this program

By Nick Cruz Velleman

Explore a fresh approach to drawing portraits by prioritizing the shadows of the face instead of fussing over details right from the start. Start with a general foundation guided by the shadows of the face that you develop slowly and progressively, saving the essential features of the portrait for the end. The course opens doors to other ways of drawing and equips artists with a more forgiving strategy for portraiture. A beginning drawing class or equivalent experience is strongly recommended, but not required, for this course.
