Music historian Stephen Schultz, teaching professor emeritus at Carnegie Mellon University, explores their seventh studio album, “Revolver” (1966), on the 60th anniversary of its release. Examining all 14 songs of the original British release, Schultz offers a deep dive into their musical and lyrical content, as well as a look at the studio wizardry behind them. He also illuminates the cultural context and impact of the album, tracing the band’s interactions with other musicians, notably Bob Dylan, and the global phenomenon of Beatlemania.
