Materials for this program

By Kate Lewis

As T.S. Eliot said, “genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood.” Students come with their own poems or other favorite prose that resonates. In class, share your selected poem and discuss thoughts and ideas it brings forth. Then combine the text with collage and painting techniques to express the feelings evoked. Transform the words into a visual illustration combining imagery, color, and mark making as you manipulate the materials to draw out the emotion you feel.

The aim of this course is to unify poetry and imagery through the calming meditative practice of collage to enhance your experience with poetry.
