The museum traces the evolution of Italian art from its late medieval roots and refined Renaissance classicism to the dramatic naturalism and dynamism of the Baroque period. Among its treasures are masterpieces by some of the most influential artists of the Italian Renaissance, including Giotto, Raphael, and Parmigianino, as well as of the Bolognese school, such as Guido Reni, Guercino, and the Carracci family, whose revolutionary artistic vision helped shape the course of European painting.
