Focus on discovering the essence of what you see in landscapes near and far and respond by creating art in collage and mixed media. Step into these liberating media and experiment with materials both dry and wet to create unique collages and mixed-media art.
In this course, students are introduced to the materials, tools, and technologies used in collage and mixed media. Find inspiration in artists who worked in collage, including Joseph Cornell and Romare Bearden, whose works are held in Smithsonian collections.
Collage is a highly versatile and accessible art technique that results in the playful combination of different and sometimes unlikely materials that add interesting textures and layers. Students express their observations by developing their own collage or mixed-media projects.
All skill levels are welcome.
