Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower and Winston Churchill

For over three decades, Winston Churchill and Dwight D. Eisenhower, two of the 20th century’s leading public figures, maintained a friendship unlike any other in history. Throughout World War II and deep into the Cold War, the alliance and camaraderie forged between the Lion and the General defeated Nazism and kept communism at bay. Although occasionally testy, their connection remained cemented until 1965, when Churchill preceded Eisenhower in death.

Historian Mitchell Yockelson discusses the fascinating personal story of these heads of state and their lasting influence on the world.
