Dioramas: The Incan Empire

July 29 - August 2, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Code: 3A0267

Campers travel back in time in South America to the vast, powerful, and sophisticated Incan Empire. They explore Inca society in the pre-Columbian world, discovering its governmental organization, religion, cultural practices, and military strategies, and how those led to its rise to prominence in South America. Visits to the American Indian and Natural History museums and the National Zoo immerse them in the Incan world. They paint and detail figures of Incan priests and warriors and learn the basics of diorama creation, completing a depiction of Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, or Cusco.
