Put on your engineering hat as you discover simple machines.  Objects at the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum and the Renwick Gallery help young makers think outside the box.  Dig into the workings of basic machinery such as screws, wheels, and inclines in art and in the community to learn more about the ways they help us every day.

Click here for the Supply List for this Adventure. Please ensure your child has access to these materials at the beginning of each class.

Smithsonian Adventures and experts at the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center have partnered to make the world of the Smithsonian the perfect destination for young learners. In live one-hour sessions three times a week, educators lead interactive explorations of objects and artworks in the Smithsonian’s collections that spark art making and experimentation.
Note: Programs are not designed for children under five.
