Instructor: Margaret Huey

Become the king of kaiju or the master of mecha in a crash course that draws from history, technology, and the natural world to guide teens in crafting and understanding giant monster and robot movies. Practice skills in photography, drawing, and stop-motion animation inspired by the Smithsonian’s own paleoart and robots. Working with artist Margaret Huey, teens design their own giant monster or robot, dip their toes into film theory, and tell their own larger-than-life story as they make these giant beasts come to life.

Master Classes are week-long, focused studio courses where teens can develop specialized skills and interact with other teens, while learning from professional practitioners.  With two hours of daily live online workshops, teens will practice, experiment, and collaborate in the development of personal projects inspired by Smithsonian collections.

Registration for this Adventure will close two weeks prior to the first session date.  If you are trying to register after that point, please email us at SummerCamp@si.edu and we will do our best to accommodate your request if space is still available.
