8/16, 8/17, 8/18, 8/19, and 8/20 (5 sessions total)

Piece together the puzzles of our prehistoric past with the help of some calcified clues: fossils! Paleontologists-in-training learn how to form, excavate, identify, and draw fossils and explore the vast diversity of prehistoric life in the Deep Time exhibition at the Natural History Museum. Virtual visits to Smithsonian collections and games help adventurers discover the unique characteristics of the creatures that roamed and lived in our backyards long, long ago.

In grade-appropriate, week-long sessions, participants take a deep dive into the Smithsonian’s collections. These Adventures engage young people with unique content about natural sciences, history, art, and so much more. Weekday sessions explore a variety of Smithsonian topics and include virtual visits to museums, hands-on projects, games, collaborative challenges, and conversations with experts during 2 hours of live, online interaction with a team of experienced instructors.

Registration for this Adventure will close two weeks prior to the first session date.  If you are trying to register after that point, please email us at SummerCamp@si.edu and we will do our best to accommodate your request if space is still available.
