MTV in the 80s, fashion in the 70s, pop art in the 60s, and food innovations in the 50s all helped to define America’s recent past. Adventurers travel through the decades and take a cross-cultural look at history through the lens of popular culture. Virtual visits to the Hirshhorn, American History, and African American History and Culture museums spark poster designs, jingles, and recipes inspired by days gone by.
In grade-appropriate, week-long sessions, participants take a deep dive into the Smithsonian’s collections. These Adventures engage young people with unique content about natural sciences, history, art, and so much more. Weekday sessions explore a variety of Smithsonian topics and include virtual visits to museums, hands-on projects, games, collaborative challenges, and conversations with experts during 2 hours of live, online interaction with a team of experienced instructors.
Multiple Offerings! This Adventure is also offered at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET. The same material will be taught in both sessions; please do not register for both.
