Important

It is our goal to offer a respectful, secure environment for all participants.

Children who attend Adventures/Online Camps are expected to follow this Digital Decorum Code of Conduct and interact appropriately in a group setting. Please read and share the Digital Decorum with your child.

Getting Started

Space

  • Find a quiet place to sit free from distractions. Designate an appropriate and comfortable learning space in your home with a neutral background for online video sessions, where the details of your home and your family members do not appear on camera.
  • Children need to at least be able to stand up, bend over, put their arms in front of them, behind them, and to both sides without touching anything (or anyone).
  • If staff notice something on your child’s video that is determined to be inappropriate, they will turn off your child’s video until the issue is resolved.

Technology

Ensure your child is prepared for their virtual adventure/online camp by doing the following:

  • Provide a mini tutorial to your childron on how to use Zoom, if necessary.
  • Watch Zoom's "Show me" videos to help you get started.
  • Upgrade to the latest version of Zoom before logging on to your Adventure/online camp. Download the latest Zoom client
  • Be sure your device is charged, connected to the internet, and ready to go before daily session begins.
  • Set up your device so it can be kept upright without assistance. This can be a laptop, or a tablet or phone on a stand. Devices need a webcam and a microphone that can clearly pick up your child’s voice.

Code of Conduct

  1. Be on time. Please arrive in the waiting room 5 minutes before your daily session to be let into the room. Always make sure you are muted when you join the session. Make sure bathroom and snack breaks are completed prior to the session.
  2. Gather and be prepared with your supplies as listed on the Materials List.
  3. Dress in comfortable clothing that is appropriate and respectful for all campers and instructors. Do not wear clothing with rude slogans.
  4. Be present, actively participate, stay engaged and on-topic, minimize any distractions, and ask when help is needed.
  5. Respect each other and our online community.
  6. Keep all personal information private and do not ask others to share.
  7. No cyberbullying, bad language or name-calling will be tolerated. It is very important for our online camp community to be safe and welcoming for all. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Consequences may include removal from the program without a refund.
  8. Follow instructors’ rules about unmuting yourself and using the chat feature. This will vary based on the age of the child.
