Mosaic by instructor Bonnie Fitzgerald

This comprehensive workshop covers the key knowledge and techniques needed to create unique fine mosaic jewelry. Learn about topics including jewelry-base selection, adhesive choice, and suitable tesserae, and get experience in the skills of precision cutting, artistic laying techniques, and working on a small scale. The instructor provides lots of great tips and individual attention as you create beautiful silver-plate mosaic pendants using mosaic gold, smalti, semiprecious stones, dichroic glass, filati, tempered glass, and millefiori.

Students are supplied with two base-metal jewelry blanks; if time permits, additional pieces may be worked on. A selection of pendant shapes, belt buckles, and hair ornaments are available for purchase, or you may bring your own. A $55 supply fee covers two pendant bases, a wide variety of mosaic materials, adhesive, and some shared tools. An extensive resource list is provided at the workshop.

Students should bring tweezers and a good-quality mosaic wheel nipper. Mosaic experience is helpful, but not required; all skill levels are welcome.
