If Christians believe their religion is right, does that make every other religion wrong? Or is this great diversity something to appreciate and foster? Is there any way to judge whether one religion is “better” than another, or are all equally valid options for people seeking to incorporate spirituality into their lives?

Charles Jones, an associate professor in the School of Theology and Religious Studies at The Catholic University of America, traces the rich history of Christianity's many encounters with other religions, from the apostle Paul's speech to the Athenians, through various currents of philosophy and science, to both the peaceful and violent meetings of Christianity and other religions today.

Highlighting patterns found in the way people meet across religious boundaries, he explores the tension between our desire for religious identity and our need to build bridges to avert conflict and foster good relations with followers of disparate faiths.
