Strap on your goggles and fire up the steam engines! Inspired by the wacky inventions and creative style of the steampunk world, campers create an original short film utilizing the Smithsonian museums and collections. They become producer, writer, director, and star, working with video equipment and computers to create their film. After designing their story, researching Smithsonian artifacts and filming locations, they storyboard and create their own films. Campers work on both sides of the camera to learn the basics of narrative structure and video production, as well as how to create on-camera and computer-generated special effects. On Friday afternoon, family and friends are invited to the world premieres.
