Do you think orchids are the prima donnas of the floral world? Surprise: Not all are difficult and demanding, and many make easy-to-maintain houseplants that can be grown without a fuss.
Orchid specialist Tom Mirenda from Smithsonian Gardens leads this session designed for orchid novices, offering an introduction to the beautiful species and its history, as well as guidance in choosing the right orchid for your indoor space and keeping it healthy and happy.
Then, get some practical experience with orchids during an optional hands-on workshop with Smithsonian Gardens staff member Sarah Hedean. She’ll demonstrate how to repot orchids and to identify and eliminate pest problems. Orchids, planting materials. and pots are provided.
