Shine and the Moonbeams are singer-songwriter Shawana Kemp and guitarist John Heagle, two New York musicians who have collectively performed in every musical genre from Musical Theatre to the circus! They have teamed up to create a new genre that speaks to kids’ hearts --a soulful, groove-happy R&B musical extravaganza in a rock and roll package.
Their breezy show changes sounds to match their moods: one minute they invite kids to stomp their feet, clap their hands and sing to melodic and bubbly tunes. Then smooth-as-silk, they slide into a story song capturing the sweetness, uncertainty, and simplicity of being little in a big world.
Our friends from Jammin' Java, the Virginia coffeehouse and music club, are an expert in children’s music entertainment and we’re joining forces to bring the best in family friendly music right to your favorite Smithsonian destination. This special series features rockin’ dance party concerts for children ages 2-6, with a complimentary cup of Jammin’ Java coffee and snacks on the side for their grown-ups. There will be plenty of room for your tot to dance around and you’ll have the chance to connect with other parents while the kids enjoy the concert!
Everyone must have a ticket to enter (including infants).
