Listing of Francophonie events

Senegalese singer-composer musician Cheikh Lo shakes up a mix of musical influences (West and Central African, funk, Cuban, and flamenco) and languages (English, Wolof, French, and Jula, a dialect of Bambara from Burkina Faso) to create what critic Banning Eyre calls “pop that soars, transcending all confinements of genre.”

One of the mavericks of Afropop, Lo’s strong and natural melodies are matched to soulful, husky vocals, producing songs with a powerful emotional and musical punch. “Any music that makes me feel good is good for me,” he once told an interviewer, and his audiences around the world share the feeling.
