Tony Award-winning actor Jerry Orbach has earned a reputation as the quintessential New Yorker. He's best known today for his Emmy-nominated role as Detective Lennie Briscoe in NBC's hit TV series Law and Order. He has also starred on Broadway in Neil Simon's Promises, Promises, for which he received a Tony; and his critically acclaimed role in the hit movie Dirty Dancing revealed the veteran actor's cross-generational appeal. Orbach is equally at home on stage, screen, and TV. He created the role of El Gallo in Off-Broadway's evergreen The Fantasticks, and appeared in David Merrick's 42nd Street, Neil Simon's Broadway Bound, and Bob Fosse's Chicago. He also starred in the TV series The Law and Harry McGraw and has guest-starred in many other TV shows over the years. Spend a delightful evening as Mr. Orbach reminisces about his rich and multi-faceted show business career, in an interview with Dwight Blocker Bowers, cultural historian, National Museum of American History. This program was recorded live at The Smithsonian Institution July 2002 | |||||
