- Smithsonian Voices of Discovery -

The Smithsonian is one of the premiere research institutions in the country, with outstanding scholars on staff who are involved in basic research which, in many cases, interprets the tremendous national collections.

To highlight the human side of the Smithsonian, a special program called the Smithsonian Voices of Discovery has been created. This program places emphasis on the personal side of museum work by taking the human resources of the Smithsonian to the nation.

The Smithsonian Voices of Discovery enables Smithsonian scholars to travel to cities around the country to make presentations at a wide variety of local cultural, educational, and civic institutions--including museums, libraries, schools, universities, and business and community centers--on subjects relating to their research that are selected by the participating groups.

An overarching goal of the program is to establish long-term relationships with the local institutions and organizations that host Smithsonian scholars.

Cost for a Smithsonian Voices of Discovery program varies--from $3000 to $30,000--depending on the format, size and length of the program.
